Blessed

When picking up birthday decorations for my daughter at the Dollar Tree I made an impulse purchase of a black rug with the word BLESSED beautifully scrolled across it. If you are going to make an impulse purchase, there is not a better place than at a store where everything costs a dollar. We live on a farm, have tiny humans, three large dogs that come inside, the other day I even found two mini goats in my walk-in closet when I got out of the shower (that is a story for another day). Suffice to say, a dainty black rug from the Dollar Tree is no match for our lifestyle. I have made a good attempt to keep this rug clean and it has been vacuumed at least twice a day since arriving at our home but once again, it is filthy. I just walked past it and it was taunting me with its imperfections. I was tempted to just give up and donate it to a more suitable residence, someone without all the chaos that surrounds country living.

Then it hit me as I went to grab the vacuum for the third time today to try to make this black rug look unblemished by farm life. Blessed does not mean without adversity, blessed does not mean having it all together, blessed does not mean perfect. Blessed in Greek is makários and according to Strong’s Concordance it means:

a believer in enviable (“fortunate”) position from receiving God’s provisions (favor) – which (literally) extend (“make long, large”) His grace (benefits). This happens with receiving (obeying) the Lord’s inbirthings of faith. Hence, faith (4102 /pístis) and 3107 (makários) are closely associated.

Strong’s Concordance

Did you get all that? We do not have to be perfect to be blessed. We must put our faith and trust in the Lord!

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

And whose hope is the Lord.

Jeremiah 17:7 NKJV

Little dirty rug you can stay on, you are not mocking me with your dirt you are reminding me of abundant grace. I am blessed!

We are perfectly covered by the favor and grace of God that we receive through our trust and faith in Jesus. Lord, I am in awe of Your abundant grace and love freely poured on sinners like me. May everything I do today bring glory to my Father in Heaven. If I fall short, thank you for the blessing of your grace and mercy so freely bestowed on me and give me the strength to try again tomorrow. I love you, Jesus.

May the words that flow from me Lord be filled with Your message and when I am obedient may they be backed by the Holy Spirit. When I serve righteously let none of the words, I utter in praise of You fall to the ground. Help me to craft every word, may they pierce hearts and refresh weary souls. This gift is Yours; God I simply aim to use it for your glory. –Love Cortney
