Have you ever found yourself admiring a fellow Christian who has it all together?
Let us get real, I mean comparing yourself. Guilty! When left to our device we can start to imagine saints and members of God’s family as an elite crew. There is “us” and then there is “them” you know “them” the worthy, loved, adored, well-behaved Christians. You know “us” the ones who fall short, say the wrong things, and sin.
Imagine a massive sprawling convention center with unlimited capacity, it is filled with saints and members of the family of God. Sounds like a place most would aspire to step foot in even if only for a second. The “us” like those you see outside concerts holding signs in a desperate attempt to be found worthy of entry. Inside is where the “them” are, it is not for people like “us.”
But wait just a second.
19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,
Ephesians 2:19 NKJV
Backstage pass thanks to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! There is not an “us” or a “them” there is a “we” and WE are the family of God through Jesus Christ.
20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Ephesians 2:20-22 NKJV
We are part of the plan, the Kingdom of God.
Forgive me Father for the times I have sorted myself and others into worthy and unworthy categories in my mind. For the times I jumped up and down holding a sign that said, “Love me Jesus” and begging for your attention while you held my hand and stood in stillness next to me whispering “I am right here child.” Forgive me for the times I neglected the Holy Spirit and chased self-serving desires. Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice that gave each of us entry as citizens of your Heavenly Kingdom. I am in awe of your grace, mercy, and love. -Amen
May the words that flow from me Lord be filled with Your message and when I am obedient may they be backed by the Holy Spirit. When I serve righteously let none of the words, I utter in praise of You fall to the ground. Help me to craft every word, may they pierce hearts and refresh weary souls. This gift is Yours; God I simply aim to use it for your glory. –Love Cortney
