The Assyrians were a tool of the Lord yet they bragged of their conquests. We can be tempted to do the same.

Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it or the saw boast against the one who uses it? As if a rod were to wield the person who lifts it up, or a club brandish the one who is not wood!

Isaiah 10:15 NIV

We all have gifts and talents given by God to serve and further the Kingdom. They were not earned they were gifted. Just as it would be absurd for a saw or ax to take credit for the power behind it, it would be absurd to boast in gifts or talents provided to us by the power and authority of God.

There is a saying, “there is no limit to what you can accomplish if you don’t mind who gets the credit” funny enough I do not know who to give the credit to! Both Harry Truman and Ronald Regan made similar statements so give the credit to one of them, just not me! The car does not mind when the person takes the credit for arriving on time at the meeting, nor does the gas pump mind, they both have a job to do and so do we! I would like to improve on this quote.

There is no limit to what we can accomplish if we use our resources and special talents to serve the Lord.

Thank you, Father, for the special talents and gifts you have bestowed on me. Let me use my resources and skills to bring you all the glory! Let me bask in my humility, I can do all things through you. You hold the power; I want to humbly serve my King and bring you glory.

May the words that flow from me Lord be filled with Your message and when I am obedient may they be backed by the Holy Spirit. When I serve righteously let none of the words, I utter in praise of You fall to the ground. Help me to craft every word, may they pierce hearts and refresh weary souls. This gift is Yours; God I simply aim to use it for your glory.
