As I was walking by a large poplar tree in my yard, I noticed the base and root system, I heard the phrase in my mind, deep roots move earth, several times and I saw for the first time the displaced earth pushed up by the vast root system of this single poplar tree. There is power in a deep root system as described in Jeremiah 17 7-8, “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes.
But its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.” Staring at the moved earth beneath this poplar tree, I felt the breathtaking power of this message in Jeremiah. Lord I want deep roots, the kind described in Jeremiah 17 7-8, I want roots like this tree in my yard that displaces the dirt and impacts things around it. Jesus, help me to grow my faith so that with every breath I take my roots displace more and more of earthly desires and demands and tap into the source of eternal life through you Heavenly Father. Amen
