I read a quote yesterday, and it said, “when someone asks me about my past, I tell them Jesus dropped the charges” credit is unknown. What an incredibly powerful statement! The Bible is overflowing with confirmation just check out Psalms 32:1-2

Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit

Psalms 32:1-2 NIV

The forgiveness expressed in this verse is threefold.

  • Forgives transgressions
  • Covers sin
  • Does not count sin against us

God wants to forgive sinners, deliver overwhelming meaningful changes and healing. It is part of his loving nature, and it is available to all of us. All of us, let that sink in, all of us. Yet still, someone reading these words who struggles with shame and feelings of unworthiness will doubt the inclusiveness of that statement. They will edit my statement in their mind, all of us, but me. God already knows it all and loves you so much His only son, Jesus Christ, suffered, died, and rose again for you, literally you!

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Romans 3:23-24 NIV

So, “when someone asks about your past, tell them, Jesus dropped the charges.”

Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice for sinners like me! Or your boundless compassion and loving-kindness that forgives transgressions, covers sin and does not count sin against us. God, you are so good to me! I will sing praise to you all my days.
