Faith can appear foolish to the unbelievers. Imagine what Noah’s neighbors thought as he built the Ark (Genesis 6:13-22). The Ark was roughly 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, 45 feet high with the capacity to hold over 500 stockcars. Really, take a second to ponder what you would think and feel if construction of that magnitude started next door. Or how you would feel if you were called like Noah. Noah was obedient, his faith was unwavering. Paul reminds us in 1 Cor 1:18 that what we believe can and will look foolish to unbelievers. Have you ever been a closet Christian? The kind that reads the room before deciding if you will share your beliefs. I have, and that is not what the Lord wants for his people. We are each called to serve God with bold faith. People do not hear of the transformative power of salvation by closet Christians (2 Timothy 4:2).
Lord, I am sorry for the times I have been afraid to look foolish. God, I am ready to appear ridiculous because I have experienced your love and power. Continue to strengthen my faith so I can share the transformative power of salvation, Jesus Christ, and scripture.
