I read a quote yesterday and it’s been rolling repeatedly in my head, I am like a child with a new treasure, I can’t put it down.
Wickedness may increase and abound, but when the Lord raises His flag over the saint, it is victory.
-Smith Wigglesworth
I want to put an exclamation mark at the end of that sentence, but I want to make sure to honor it as written. Okay I cannot help myself; it is victory!
Over the past week I have been praying and thinking about God’s people. Because often as a society, even as Christians we do not fully grasp who God’s people are. We think they are Christians, or even “good Christians” whatever that means I’m sure we can all conjure an image of that stereotype. Some may think a specific denomination is God’s people but none of that is fully accurate.
We are ALL God’s people and “when the Lord raises His flag over the saint it is victory.”
God doesn’t work on our timeline, the Bible tells us so!
But do not forget this one thing dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:8-9 NIV
We are all God’s people, and he does not want anyone to die without knowing Him, without knowing and accepting the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, without understanding the power of His resurrection and the gift of eternal life we have in Christ our King. AMEN!!!!
To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
1 Corinthians 1:2 NKJV
We all receive a personal invitation to be God’s holy people, His saints. Saint is not reserved for a special few but for all who believe in Jesus Christ, the son of God, His death, resurrection and our forgiveness in Him.
I can conjure an image of the great joy on the face of Jesus as He raises the flag of victory over a saint as He welcomes them into the Kingdom. Oh, how He longs to have this fallen world adorned with His flag of victory! He is patient with us, thank you Lord for your patience. He does not desire a single soul perish and we are the Lords Army. We must welcome the lost, we must lift the fallen, we must encourage the weary and downtrodden. All are welcome and the love of Christ must pour out of us so that others may be saved. Smith Wigglesworth was right; the world is full of darkness, but our mighty King and Savoir is the light. It’s that the best news ever?
“Wickedness may increase and abound, but when the Lord raises His flag over the saint, it is victory.”
-Smith Wigglesworth
Lord, thank you for your patience, help me be strengthened by your Word. I desire my time to be used to bring you glory, to help lead others to you so that you can raise your flag in victory. May I find ways to serve, reach out, to show your love and be your hands and feet.
Grace and peace to you from our God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:3 NIV
-Amen
