Read Time:2 Minute, 5 Second

I was driving behind a vehicle the other day and there was a sticker on the back window. I followed the vehicle for some time and was unable or unwilling to put the effort into reading it. We had places to be, two children chattering, the dash clock counting down the minutes until we were late for our appointment.

As I stopped behind them at a four-way stop, I was able to read the sticker, it said in big bold font, “do you know who you are?” I paused for a moment as I reread it, DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE as I read it the second time a giant smile came across my face because YES, I know who I am! I am a child of God, I am his beloved daughter, and I am the family of Jesus my King and Savior. Yes, yes, I know who I am and there’s such a power in that knowledge, what a beautiful gift that we’ve been given as Christians. We are called into a deep personal relationship with Jesus, and we are given an identity in Christ so much so that we can know who we are with confidence. I am grateful for the love of Jesus I am so grateful for his sacrifice, I will never be worthy but yes, I know who I am.

14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Romans 8:14-17 NIV

Thank you for this scripture which speaks to the heart of your love for ALL of your children. You adopted us, plucked us out of our pit, and called us yours. Not as a master calls a slave but as a father calls a child, you welcomed us in and have never forsaken us. We may drift, we may run away, but you still listen to our prayers and welcome us home, our spirit testifies, we love you, Abba. Thank you Jesus! -Amen
