Paul in the book of 2 Timothy writes with a directness and urgency that resonates. There are countless lines of scripture in this letter that drill into my mind in such a way that I can almost hear the sound of Paul’s voice.
Preach the word!
2 Timothy 4:2 NKJV
Paul knows death is imminent, I hear a battle cry in this verse not just for “them” but for us. Do you hear it too?
Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.
2 Timothy 4:2 NKJV
Paul does not say be ready when everything is perfect, or even when you “feel” ready, he says to be ready in every season. Just like traditional wedding vows for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, preach the word!
But I am shy, Gideon was timid be ready God will use you.
But I do not know the Bible very well, then commit to reading it, ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand and apply scripture, be ready God will use you.
But I am too busy, be ready God will clear that plate and use you.
But it just is not a good time for me, it is a good time for God, be ready he will use you.
Lord I hear Paul’s battle cry and I know it comes from You. Just as you shared the Great Commission in Mark 16:14-18. Help me to put down my excuses and answer the call. I love you Lord, and I am ready to serve my King. -Amen
