Like my soul was coming down with a migraine.

Yesterday it felt like the volume of life was too loud. Like my soul was coming down with a migraine. I was doing my best to tread water until my head hit my pillow last night.

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.

Proverbs 3:24 NKJV

Anyone with little children at home knows the sweet blessing of a good night of sleep. Thank you Lord!

This morning I reflected on yesterday as I read scripture. I jotted the statement “show your heart” in my notebook. Show your heart, show your heart, show your heart.

Corinth I imagine as the Las Vegas of the New Testament, a sin swimming pool of the worst possible kind. And yet Paul’s letter, 1 Corinthians is filled with Faith, Hope, and Love. If the Christians in Corinth can sustain faith in circumstances like that, I can certainly find ways to glorify my Father in Heaven on days the volume of life is too loud!

Show your heart.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV

Show your heart, show your heart.

13 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NKJV

Show your heart.

There it is, LOVE the ultimate, show your heart. Even when it is hard, choose love. Faith is good, hope is great, but the GREATEST is LOVE.

Heavenly Father, I confess I fall short often, I ask for Your forgiveness and humbly thank you for Your abounding grace, mercy, and love. Let me choose love, to show my heart in all circumstances, and stand fast in my faith. Jesus, you are the ultimate example of love without borders, less of me and more of you my Lord.

-Amen

  1. “Corinth I imagine as the Las Vegas of the New Testament, a sin swimming pool of the worst possible kind” is perhaps the best line of poetry I’ve ever read, Sister.
