Sometimes I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit so intensely it is like the air in the room is thicker, supercharged and every breath I take renews me. But most of the time that is not the case, while I do not doubt the Holy Spirit’s presence, I do not feel in the physical sense His presence. This can be challenging for me because it is easy to chase signs and assume a lack of signs is abandonment. That is simply not the case. We are called to walk by faith and rest assured in our salvation through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV
Furthermore, we are called to have confidence through faith that what we believe in scripture is true.
11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1 NIV
The Holy Spirit is always with me, helping me, convicting me and strengthening me. Not having physical signs of the Holy Spirit’s presence should make us listen more intently not assume rejection.
Forgive me, for the times I chased signs and took perceived distance as rejection Lord. God you have never forsaken Your people and You will not start today; your covenant is good and true! You are a kind and loving Father. Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice on the cross and my redemption through your suffering.
The Holy Spirit I desire more of you in my life, renew me as only you can. Let me feel and hear the Word of God like never before. Search me, uproot my insecurities, and mend my broken pieces. Fortify me with scripture and sustain me with prayer. Dwell in me, make room. I want more of you.
In the name of Jesus I pray these things, Amen
