My son is three, he finds treasures everywhere he looks. “No buddy, that is trash” is a common phrase I utter to him in a soothing tone. But what if I am wrong, and he sees the beauty of creation just a tad clearer than I do. As if his lens has not been cluttered and defined by worldly definitions of treasure and trash. What if he is right? It is hard to comprehend how such a powerful God who created the Heavens, and the Earth could want a personal relationship with each of us, but He does and He is always near.
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
Psalms 139:7-10 NKJV
Lately, I have been finding heart-shaped rocks, they just jump out of the dusty loom of our freshly tilled pasture, a treasure. Sometimes a song, a phrase, or word churns in my mind for hours even days, and then it pops up repeatedly in a conversation, plays on the radio, or is spoken in a sermon. I call these things breadcrumbs from Heaven, a reminder of the constant presence of God in our lives. The treasures of creation abound I need only be willing to look.
You God are always nearby. Wherever I go, you are with me, teaching me, leading me, and supporting me. You desire a personal relationship with each of us, every breath I take serves to remind me of the majestic beauty of creation. It is a treasure. Glory to God! -Amen
