If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises] and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose].

1 John 1:9 Amplified Version

Heavenly Father, I know You have freed me from my sins through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. I know it in my mind, but I do not always feel it in my heart. I have asked for and welcomed forgiveness, but my thoughts keep transporting me back to a time and a place I am not bound to anymore.

I am like a 13,000-pound elephant tied to a weak rope, convinced the rope strong, being reminded of its enslavement when it is free. I call out to You God forgive me for my sins. Thank you for the blessing of forgiveness You freely bestow and Your mighty mercy and healing grace. Help me to recognize that through You Jesus my sins were obliterated on the cross. They are no more. None are worthy yet all who desire and place their wholehearted trust in Jesus are saved. Thank you, Jesus! What lingers, has no power to bind, the rope has no containment power against a 13,000-pound elephant.

Lord, when my thoughts start pulling me back, nudge me. Remind me that my weakness is made strong through you! If my past could help another open those doors that I might serve Your Kingdom.

I am forgiven, I am loved, I am a child of God.
