I am a child of the King and I choose this day to live as one

I have had a week, where nothing went as planned, and when I say as planned, I mean my plans. You know, how we go about planning our days and our weeks without much thought until the roadblocks start popping up causing us to stop and pause. Like a train running off the tracks, this unanticipated forced stop makes us pause, reflect, and hopefully remember our place in God’s plan. It’s not my will, my way, it’s His will, His way. When I surrender, then I can claim my place in God’s plan, I can let His will be done and I can get out of the way.

Sometimes it’s disappointing when things do not go as we envisioned but we can rest confident that His plan is for good and so much greater than we can fathom. Through the blood of Jesus, we are called children of God.

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 10:19-25 NIV

So, I draw near to God and confess my failures, for once again making grandiose plans in my own tiny universe without acknowledging the Creator and King of the Universe. He is just to forgive, and when I surrender then I can ask the important questions like, Lord what is your will in this circumstance? How can I use my gifts to serve you at this moment? I’m apt to forget that God doesn’t just want in on our big decisions like who to marry but He also wants in on the daily decisions and if we are willing to ask, He will graciously answer with divine timing.

Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice that has made eternal salvation possible, your blood was not shed for an elite few it was shed for ALL. My faults and my failures do not define me. I am a child of the King and I choose this day to live as one. -Amen
